A holistic methodology for hydrokinetic energy site selection

Hydrokinetic energy can contribute to diversify and decarbonise the mix in many coastal regions, particular estuaries. These are typically areas of high environmental value with intense socioeconomic activity. The aim this work is provide a comprehensive methodology for selecting optimum locations hydrokinetic exploitation, by considering all relevant aspects which affect decision-making process, improve current available procedures. centred around novel holistic index, Integrated Energy (IHE) considers: (i) exploitable resource, (ii) costs installation, (iii) aspects. approach illustrated through case study Shannon Estuary, on west coast Ireland. It shown that application facilitates planning reduces uncertainties development farm project.
